Late payment is one of the biggest problems for freelancers. A few habits make it far less likely.
Every invoice should show what you did, how much is owed, your payment terms, and how to pay. Confusion causes delay.
Make payment due on a clear date. Seven or fourteen days is common. Due on receipt is clearest of all.
Send the invoice as soon as the work is done. The longer you wait to invoice, the longer you wait to be paid.
Give the client a direct way to pay. Card or bank transfer, with the details on the invoice.
A polite reminder on the due date is normal and expected. Most late payments are forgotten, not refused.
In the UK you can charge statutory interest on late commercial payments, plus a fixed recovery fee. Knowing this changes the conversation.
Create and send invoices in a few taps. Track what's owed and what's overdue. With Stripe connected, clients can pay the invoice directly.
Getting paid faster is mostly about removing friction. Clear invoices, short terms, easy payment.
